It's no surprise, but he was convicted.
He no doubt deserves what he gets, but I'm still a skeptic on recovered memory. Shanley's nefarious reputation no doubt will make what might otherwise be a good appeal issue not a likely winner. Massachusetts has a nasty history on child abuse convictions based on questionable evidence.
As they say, hard cases make bad law.
